Between guests staying at the lodge, our Head Chef Al takes a trip to our local produce provider, Christine, to check-in and see how the vegetables are coming along as we move into the peak of summer. A long-time friend of Minaret Station, Christine provides us with incredible organically grown selections of produce from her enchanting Botanica herb and vegetable garden close by Wanaka.

Quality at the Core

Central Otago and the Wanaka basin is unique as our food ethos is focused on seasonal eating. By acquiring produce locally, we are able to ensure high-quality products while supporting our local businesses. Our produce is thoughtfully cultivated from seedling to harvest by Christine and her team. The short transit time from the garden to our kitchen at Minaret Station protects the high nutritional yields and maintains freshness from the time of harvest.

Our Produce Defines Our Dishes

Seasonal eating determines the dish selections chosen. Our chefs will plan meals according to guest dietaries and the produce Christine has available during each time of the year. Produce requests are made in small batches to ensure we maintain low waste levels and optimal freshness at the time of enjoyment.

Why Organic?

Not only is organic produce better for you, but it provides a distinct difference in taste and flavour to our dishes. By eliminating the use of chemical washes and harsh pesticides this produce is able to ripen naturally. Christine uses natural remedies to manage pests, organic sprays, and seaweed based fertilisers to enrich the nutrients. These methods enhance the natural state of the produce and accentuate the beautiful flavours we are after.
